As a Development Board member for the Cleveland chapter of America SCORES, I want to invite you all to attend our upcoming event Inspired Art, a collaboration of Cleveland artists and young Cleveland poets of the after-school program America SCORES Cleveland. The original poetry of Cleveland kids involved in America SCORES has compelled over 40 local artists to create and donate artwork to support the after-school health and literacy program. At the benefit auction, students will witness their visions brought to life and artists will experience the poetry on a deeper level as select youth perform.
America SCORES provides unique, creative after-school programming for more than 600 youth in nine Cleveland public schools, teaching poetry, service-learning and soccer to measurably improve literacy, community engagement and fitness. Ticket and art sales will provide students with the opportunity to participate in America SCORES’ soccer, creative writing and service-learning programming.
Tickets for Inspired Art are $75* and include:
- Heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by Duet Catering
- Great Lakes beer & assorted wines
- Free parking
- Poetry performances by America SCORES poet-athletes
- The opportunity to meet the artists
- Music by DJ Bradley P
- Desserts & coffee provided by Duet Catering
*Tickets are $75 pre-sale thru June 4 at midnight. Tickets at the door are $80. The location is: smARTspace at 78th Street Studios in Gordon Square Arts District 1305 W. 80th Street, Cleveland, OH 44102
I will be in attendance helping out during the event. I hope to see you there! As always, please spread the word 🙂
On Saturday March 7th, I will be Volunteering with the American Lung Association for the 2015 Fight for Air Climb. The event takes place inside of the Terminal Tower (50 Public Square, Cleveland OH 44113). The Climb is 42 floors, a total of 804 steps, and the Climb is timed for all participants.
I am currently rounding up volunteers from my place of employment, Progressive Insurance, to come along and help; however I wanted to pass the info along for anyone else looking for a fun Volunteer opportunity taking place indoors. The majority of Volunteers are needed between 8:00AM and 1:00PM, depending on your position.
Volunteer duties may include:
Event set up or take down
Pass out t-shirts
Pass out water
Monitor reception area
Pass out climber bibs
If you decide to volunteer, please register HERE. Once you have registered you will receive additional information/instructions via email.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hope to see you there on the 7th! 🙂
As a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated; we have a relationship with St. Jude and the Children’s Research Hospital. This year my Sisters and I, along with friends and colleagues will participate in the St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk on Saturday November 22nd at Great Northern Mall (4954 Great Northern Mall North Olmsted, OH 44070). This time around we are walking in honor of a very special lady…my cousin Zoey!
She will be 4 very soon (October 29th), and I decided to gather everyone to walk in her honor. She’s been very courageous while battling cancer and continues to fight every day! …and she’s quite the fashionista! I asked to borrow a dress but she hasn’t gotten back to me yet LOL!
Here is the Team Page for #TeamZoey; feel free to join and/or donate to the walk! You will see several members on the team roster; please click whichever member you would like to donate to. She and her mother (my cousin) will also be at the walk. So if you’re around, please come say hello and wish her a happy belated birthday! 🙂
Thanksgiving Day will be here before you know it! This year I will help out by serving breakfast at 2100 Lakeside Emergency Men’s Shelter (2100 Lakeside, Cleveland OH 44114) Thursday the 28th from 6:30-8pm. There is also an option to serve dinner that evening from 5-7pm. If you have some free time to help for either shift (or both), please let me know and I will place you on the list. I have a lot of fun at the shelter; everyone is extremely appreciative of the time taken to help out for the holidays. Food items are also being accepted for breakfast and/or dinner; so if you can’t come out but have something to donate please let me know.
Becuase more individuals/groups tend to volunteer for the holidays, this opportunity will fill up rather quickly; so just be sure to let me know. I will share other volunteer opportunities as I receive them between now and the end of December.
I registered to volunteer for the upcoming Out of the Darkness Walk, put on by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on Saturday October 18th. The event takes place at Wade Oval in University Circle. The walk begins at 11:30am, but as a volunteer I can expect to be there a bit earlier. When I registered, I was provided with a fundraising page. Although I’m not actively raising money I will gladly accept donations if there’s someone you’d like to acknowledge. I personally dealt with some depression years ago, as well as lost a family member to suicide; so I wanted to involve myself in this walk.
It would be nice to round up some friends/acquaintances to volunteer with me Saturday morning. If you’re interested, let me know in the comments section or shoot me an email at email@example.com …you can also reach me via social media if we are connected! 🙂
