Calling All Cleveland area Single Moms!!!
The ladies (including myself!) of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated – Kappa Gamma Sigma (KGS) Chapter, have put together an opportunity for single moms to win a FREE registration for the upcoming Single Moms Conference taking place Saturday October 24th, at the Galleria at Erieview (Cafe Sausalito-1301 E. 9th Street, Cleveland OH 44114).
The Singe Moms Conference, hosted by Cleveland Young Lives & From Lemons to Lemonade, is designed to create a network of support for the single mothers across Northeast Ohio. Attendees can expect and entire day of motivation, inspiration, and encouragement toward positive change. The conference theme is “We’re All In This Together!”
KGS wants to hear from YOU for a chance to win one (1) of FIVE event registrations being donated by the sorority chapter! To enter, please email KGSCommunityService@gmail.com your name, email and phone number; and in 150 words or less please tell us why you want to attend and what you hope to take from the conference. Submissions are due by Sunday October 11th at 11:59PM. The chapter will then select five (5) winners to be notified Friday October 16th. One entry per household please.
Please spread the word, and if you have any questions please email KGSCommunityService@gmail.com!
I want to thank my Sorority chapter Kappa Gamma Sigma for agreeing to support such a great community event (Greater Service, Greater Progress of course!), and Frechic Dickson-Founder and President of From Lemons To Lemonade for connecting with me….Good Luck! 🙂
I wanted to give everyone a heads up on the upcoming Father’s Walk, in which fathers across the county take time to walk their children to school the morning of Thursday September 17th. This annual walk is sponsored by The Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative, Passages, I Am A Dream and the Healthy Fathering Collaborative. A list of the schools currently participating (as of September 10th) can be found HERE. Many schools have additional activities for fathers that day. Feel free to contact you child’s school if you do not see it listed.
On this date, fathers (ana father-figures) will be encouraged to take the following pledge:
- I am responsible for the education of my child.
- I will encourage all children to do their best every day at school.
- I will speak to my child about the value of learning and the importance of reaching your potential.
- I will help with school work and review assignments for completion.
- I will praise my child when he/she does well in school.
- I will speak with my child’s teachers and support them in educating my child.
- I will teach my child the value of education and the value of family.
- I will work with my child’s mother or guardian to achieve the best academic and social outcomes for my child even if I do not live with my child.
A few of my friends participated last year with their children, and share the same feelings of appreciation for something as simple as a walk to school, to take place in unison. I hope you spread the word, and enjoy the walk! 🙂
Hi everyone! I feel like it’s been a minute since I posted something, my apologies! I’ve been volunteering of course, raising money, sick (I’m better now-I need to slow down!), welcoming new additions to the family, celebrating birthdays, and more volunteering!
Now back to it…here’s an upcoming event that I signed up for. The main focus is gathering ideas on how to better attract people to visiting this awesome city of Cleveland. Seeing as how active I get around town with volunteering/events, I hope to provide some good dialogue and soak up good ideas! I know there are a lot of you who don’t know all that Cleveland has to offer and this is a great opportunity to gain some insight as well as network for the future.
Positively Cleveland its hosting a first-ever Young Professional Summit on Thursday October 23rd, from 3:30pm-7:00PM. Here is some background on what to expect:
Cleveland is the home of world-class art, culture and rock and roll. It’s a mix of sophistication and grit, artistry and industry, healthcare and sports. But did you know that only 34 percent of those who live here would recommend Cleveland as a place to visit?
Join us at our first-ever Young Professional CLE Ambassador Summit to share what you think would help encourage more local residents to recommend Cleveland as a visitor destination.
Network, brainstorm and bring your ideas to life with other millennial Clevelanders who eat, sleep and breathe CLE and are passionate about telling the Cleveland story. We know you have strong opinions, so we need you to speak up, sign up and shine a light on what you love about our city.
