I wanted to let you know of the upcoming Run for Recovery Kick-Off Rally happening Thursday July 23rd, 2015 at Music Box Supper Club (1148 Main Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44039), from 6pm-7pm. The event is FREE, and you can register HERE. I hope to see you there! 🙂
I know this is over a month away but I wanted to get a head start on seeing if others would like to volunteer with me. On Saturday August 22nd, I will help out once again with Recovery Resources’ annual Run For Recovery, taking place at Progressive Field. This event is put together by Recovery Resources, a nonprofit helping people triumph over mental illness, alcoholism, drug and other addictions. Additional event details can be found HERE.
I will be working a water stop along the route; nothing too challenging. If you would like to come along to volunteer with me please send a comment, or reach out to me via social media if we are connected; you can also send me email firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know you want to help out. You can expect to volunteer between 8am-12pm (give or take 30 minutes).
This Summer, I will be tutoring first and second graders at risk of not reaching the state mandated Third Grade Reading Guarantee. I initially posted a status on Facebook to see if anyone wanted to help out, and there was a pretty good response so I am listing all additional details here.

As a Development Board member for the Cleveland chapter of America SCORES, I want to invite you all to attend our upcoming event Inspired Art, a collaboration of Cleveland artists and young Cleveland poets of the after-school program America SCORES Cleveland. The original poetry of Cleveland kids involved in America SCORES has compelled over 40 local artists to create and donate artwork to support the after-school health and literacy program. At the benefit auction, students will witness their visions brought to life and artists will experience the poetry on a deeper level as select youth perform.
America SCORES provides unique, creative after-school programming for more than 600 youth in nine Cleveland public schools, teaching poetry, service-learning and soccer to measurably improve literacy, community engagement and fitness. Ticket and art sales will provide students with the opportunity to participate in America SCORES’ soccer, creative writing and service-learning programming.
Tickets for Inspired Art are $75* and include:
- Heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by Duet Catering
- Great Lakes beer & assorted wines
- Free parking
- Poetry performances by America SCORES poet-athletes

I have reserved a few spots for anyone wanting to Volunteer with the group. If you are interested please let me know at your earliest convenience. I simply need your name and email address. Spots are very limited. I would like to gather all participants by January 14th. Please note that Volunteers must be ages 16 and up. Please dress comfortably.

As a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated; we have a relationship with St. Jude and the Children’s Research Hospital. This year my Sisters and I, along with friends and colleagues will participate in the St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk on Saturday November 22nd at Great Northern Mall (4954 Great Northern Mall North Olmsted, OH 44070). This time around we are walking in honor of a very special lady…my cousin Zoey!
She will be 4 very soon (October 29th), and I decided to gather everyone to walk in her honor. She’s been very courageous while battling cancer and continues to fight every day! …and she’s quite the fashionista! I asked to borrow a dress but she hasn’t gotten back to me yet LOL!
Here is the Team Page for #TeamZoey; feel free to join and/or donate to the walk! You will see several members on the team roster; please click whichever member you would like to donate to. She and her mother (my cousin) will also be at the walk. So if you’re around, please come say hello and wish her a happy belated birthday! 🙂
I thought I’d pass this along. A few folks have expressed an interest in tutoring opportunities. This is a unique opportunity, as tutors are helping adult students who are studying to take the GED. A lot of new updates have been made to the test-I have been studying on my own to refresh my memory on some topics so that I can become a better tutor, and it is somewhat challenging. I think it’s really important to tell our youth to stay in school and earn a diploma, because this test is not easy! As a tutor, expect to assist with the basic high school subjects-only the areas that you are most comfortable with.
Seeds of Literacy is thrilled to announce the opening of our new east side location! Located at 13815 Kinsman Road (at the corner of Kinsman & E. 139th Street), the site is an opportunity for Seeds to bring our award-winning program to adult learners on the east side of Cleveland. The site is set to open mid-September, and will hold morning and afternoon classes as well as registration for new students.
We’ve already received many calls from adults interested in attending classes there, so now we just need one key element: tutors! If you’re interested in helping to get our new location off the ground and provide the same amazing one-to-one tutoring that has made our program such a success, please contact me at 216-661-7950 x10 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more info. The Kinsman site also features a secure parking lot and building security.
For more info, check out the Seeds of Literacy website.
